The Right to Sleep
Living in one of the biggest populated countries in the world can be challenging. There has to be a large amount of hard working women and men to fulfil the needs that come with such large population. Many men and women commit themselves to work long hours to be able to help the sick, solve criminal cases, or just being the average family member working hard to help their family. These men and women work hard to keep this country moving working 8 to 12 hours plus in just one job. The average person nowadays works 2 jobs to fulfil their family's need. Personally, I would prefer a doctor that has had sleep before performing a surgery on my body, I would not want him or her accidently leaving a surgical instrument inside my body. In the article “Surgical Objects Accidently Left Inside” states that “Every year, in the United States about 1,500 people have surgical objects accidentally left inside them after surgery, according to medical studies.” Likewise, I would want my professor to be fully rested to be able to answer all the questions I have during the class and enlightening me with his or her knowledge. The average working person working two jobs should have a break worthy of their sleep. At times people, fall asleep behind the wheel during traffic which not only puts their life at risk but also others. The article “Research on Drowsy Driving” shows the percentage of fatal accidents cause by people who fall asleep on the wheel is, “estimated 7 percent of all crashes and 16.5 percent of fatal crashes involved drowsy driving. If this estimate is accurate, it suggests that more than 5,000 people died in drowsy-driving-related motor vehicle crashes across the United States last
