According to Thakore (2013), “the focus of leadership needs to be shifted from process and outcome to people and the future” (pg. 24) This single statement sums up all that is servant leadership. In history, good management has been defined by managers passing down instruction while employees obey orders without questioning leadership. Over time, experience has proven that this model or style of leadership is not nearly as effective as the servant leadership approach. Synovus knew this truth and focused all their efforts solely on maintaining the servant leadership style among all levels of leadership. Business people from small businesses to the largest corporate structure understand that managerial skills and leadership styles affect the success of a business to a great extent (Karania, Muturi, Mukabi &Kabata, 2013, p. 124).
