The occurrence of multiple symptom damage is possible as well. Other potential complications could be blood clots, pericarditis, heart attack, stroke, seizures, and kidney failure [30]. Treatment options are available to contain the symptoms, but progression of these symptoms can be life-threatening.
Fatal Systemic Lupus Erythematosus[edit]
In a study on the mortality of SLE patients in 2000 to 2004 by Nossent and colleagues, they determined that 10% of fatalities occurred during the first year and 40% of fatalities occurred after 10 years with the disease [90]. However, one-third of fatalities occurred during remission of the diseases and could potentially be unrelated to SLE [90]. Symptoms of severe infection and cardiovascular events represented 77.78% of death for which a single cause was determined and 41.62% of death for which multiple there were multiple causes.
Rapid Progression Systemic Lupus
