Plot 1 Pages 1-5: The story opens in 1775. It is harsh for the poor people, but for the rich it's great. Things were very unfair. If you did not obey the French government, they would punish you. They would cut off hands and pull out tongues. Crime was horrible during this time from hunger and poorness. The plot starts late one night in a stage-coach. They are nervous and scared of robbers.
Plot 2 Pages 6-9: All three people on the coach have to get off to make it up the hill. While they are pushing the coach up the hill, a man named Jerry Cruncher rides beside them on horseback. He asks for Mr. Lorry. Mr. Lorry recognizes Jerry from Tellson's Bank. He gives Mr. Lorry a message "to stay at Dover for Mam'selle." Mr. Lorry tells Jerry to take a message to him saying "Recalled to life." …show more content…
Lorry gave him back to Tellson's Bank. He is still very confused at what it means, but he goes anyway. Mr. Lorry is still on the coach. He begins to fall asleep. He dreams of Tellson's Bank for a little while, but then he begins to dream of digging a dead mans body up. He keeps asking the dead man if he wants to see her. The dead man says yes one time and no one time. He keeps asking the dead man if he wants to see her. Then Mr. Lorry asks the dead man how long he has been dead. He says for more then eighteen
