The Tang Dynasty’s political philosophy, meritocracy is one of the most exceptional, innovative methods of choosing government officials. The dynasty shows it’s trustworthy and fairness to the people of China by giving people even the peasants and the traders a chance to see if they have the skills and the brains to help China become a prosperous, successful country it had ever been. The government advanced the arts, literature, religion, trading, agriculture, and politics onto a whole different level. They also introduced a new era of the golden age of the literature and arts where the arts and the literature were more respected. During this era, the woodblock printing was invented where it increased literacy and spread knowledge. Literature and the arts made a huge contribution from being a part in culture to producing the most famous, expertise Chinese artists and authors. Overall, the Tang Dynasty has been one of the most remarkable, extraordinary, and unforgettable dynasty that I had ever behold. One particular cultural achievement that struck my attention was the mechanical clock also known as 機械鐘 in Chinese. The invention may seem simple, but has multiple complex components. The first model of the mechanical clock was made by Yi Xing, a Buddhist monk, and mathematician in C.E. 725. The mechanical clock functions by dripping water that powers a wheel that makes one full revolution in 24 hours.
