For example, I have a third grade class. I tell my students “Ok class, today well be going over the basic functions on a Chromebook laptop.” I would then issue each of my students a Chromebook and begin to explain the functions on the smart board in my classroom. Then I would have a one or two of my students show me what I just taught them. If they understood, I would then go one with my lesson. They are having fun and learning. That is what makes a good Essentialism teacher to me.
The goals that I would set from my students would be to make sure they gave it their all. Even if they do not understand, I would make sure they remain calm while we figure it out. I would also not want any of my students to make fun of each other. When I was observer the other day, a student did not know the answer and another student laughed at him. Ms. Brown was furious, and she gave him a negative Dojo. She immediately told him not to laugh at him. I would make sure they all help each other
