Children may be spending the majority of their day inside playing Xbox, or playing games on their phones, rather than playing outside. Children are not getting enough exercise that they need, and consequently, they are gaining more weight. Weight gain occurs when children increase their snacking along with not getting enough exercise, which is a consequence of spending too much time on technology. From personal experience, whenever I am watching a show on Netflix, I might get bored, and I automatically grab a snack, even when I am not hungry; eating when I am not hungry has been a consequence of spending too much time on technology, when I could be spending my time elsewhere. If parents do not limit the amount of time children use on technology, their children are more susceptible to contracting diabetes, heart failure, or liver disease.
