The government prefers Landfills because it is a cheap and effective way to "get rid" of our wastes, like plastic. But in fact we are not disposing the waste at all we are just hiding it. Recycling was not very popular and enforced like some countries (Germany) do because of its low disposal costs. But the recycling process for plastics is very long because they need to be cut up into tiny pieces and washed multiple times in order to be recycled and be used again. The reason why plastic needs to at least recycled rather than thrown away or burned is because Non biodegradable Plastic cannot decompose in the environment so therefore it should be recycled. Recycling being one of the best ways to get rid of waste while making it reusable. One of the newer solutions that have been found are biodegradable plastics. These plastics can decompose back into the environment in a mere 30 days. Therefore the government should impose a federal tax on the use of non biodegradable plastics to provide an incentive for companies to use biodegradable plastics instead of the traditional plastics such as
