She was a “British author who wrote novels,a history of the French Revolution, a travel journal, and a children’s book in addition to A Vindication of the Rights of Woman.” During the 18th century, many people believed that women were to be beautiful, emotional, and dependent on men. This belief that people had of women lead to discouragement from studying history, geography, and rhetoric. Mary believed that women and men had to inherit rights of mankind for them to be equal. Methods she had used to reach her conclusions were reasoning that took place inside her book. Mary’s main idea was that women and men should receive the same education. Her main idea had a similar approach as the other philosophers, John Locke, Voltaire, and Adam Smith, as they wanted to build better individuals and societies.
