The Five Factor Model separates personality into five dimensions: Openness to experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion - Introversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism.
Openness to Experience can be characterised as having the ability to adapt to new ideas and activities in given situations. They display perceptive and creative intuitiveness, with the ability to reflect on past experiences (S.Courneya, Hellsten, 1998). In regards to exercise, these individuals participate in order to relieve stress and gain enjoyment (S.Courneya, Hellsten, 1998). I would advise the personal trainer conducts sessions in a studio using training methods such as circuit training as they will be more comfortable in theses surroundings as it's a more private. This will increase enjoyment and motivation. Motivation is a key determinate of participation (Judge, T. A., & Ilies, R., 2002). Thus, helping the trainer build a rapport with the client, Increasing the chance of adherence. In addition, an individual with an Extraversion personality is more likely to adhere to a moderate physical activity plan, in contrast a Conscientiousness personality will adhere to a higher intensity program. Thus, if a personal trainer uses a questionnaire such as the BFI Inventory (John O.P, 1999). To assess which personality dimension their client exhibits and applies the appropriate intensity plan. This will increase the likelihood of adherence to their training (De Bruijn; etal, 2009). If a personal trainer has a client with an Agreeableness personality dimension, I would advise them to make the sessions short for example 30 minutes, however frequent as they are self focused (Michael & et al, 2011).These exercises could be done in a home environment too to increase chance of adherence.
