It prohibits Congress from restricting the rights of individuals. Censorship is a form of control to prevent the truth to be seen or a problem to be dealt with. According to a national Gallup Poll of adolescents between the ages of thirteen and seventeen, in 1992, hip hop had become the preferred genre of youth, translating to 26%. From 1999-2008, this choice of music was the second most purchased music after rock for all age groups. This was according to the Recording Industry Association of America. (Thompson, 27). Hip hop’s success can be proven by two artists who topped the charts in 2007 and 2008, rapper Jay-Z or Shawn Carter and Lil Wayne, respectively. The fastest selling rap albums in history and the first album to go number on Billboard Album charts were created by Caucasian rappers the Beastie Boys and Eminem.
