Our client is active and extremely busy during the first 3 quarters of their fiscal year (March - November) and then it quiets down in the last quarter (December – February) each year. The last quarter is a nightmare for the company and our consultants find it most frustrating. I recommended that Mpiliso joined the sales team but only at the beginning of April of the next financial year if she is to stand a better chance of reaching her sales target. A recommendation which she reject offhand and insisted she started in January because she believed she had enough contacts to make it. I conceded and allowed the transfer in January of this year 2016. Ever since her transfer, Mpiliso has not managed to close any sales and her quote-bank is too small to suggest a potential breakthrough is on the horizon. The Analysis.
Step 1: The reality
· All consultants serve a 3 month probation period.
· During the probation period, a consultant must reach 50% of their quarterly target.
· Mpiliso joined the sales team during our down season.
· She has not closed any sales.
· Her quote bank is too low to suggest potential breakthrough.
· Probation period ends in 2 weeks
· She rejected the option to delay her transfer until business opportunities opened up again.
· She has been with us for some time and shares a special relationship with the owners and management
· Even though we are going through a relatively down period, the company has still managed to accumulate revenues amounting over 1.2 million South African Rand. Step 2: Choosing a Reality
