It came as no surprise that the photo album assessment would be featured using technology. Throughout the creation of this assignment, we have used several 21st century skills that we are asked to teach our students. For example, we use communication and collaboration to create our rubrics. This was all done by means of technology, and allowed us to practice using tools that our students could use to learn communication and collaboration skills. Charles Fadel(2016) states that “helping student discover and strengthen their skills is absolutely necessary if we want the education outcomes that serve students well today and into the future”. The importance of peer review is based on the opportunity to give and receive feedback that causes additional learning. Anne Davies (2007) believes that students can give feedback to other students when they “work in relation to the co-constructed criteria, specifically determining whether or not they have met the quality expectations and clarifying how they can improve their work further” (p. 47). In creating our Photo Assessment Album, we have had a chance to see how effective the peer review process can be with our students. After creating our album, we decided to use the same collaboration tool as before and comment on one another’s work. Because we were familiar with the rubric, we were able to quickly point out strengths and weaknesses of each other’s work. As a result, the changes that needed making were easy to find and fix.
