America is a country of increasingly obese people. Obesity can cause heart problems, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, some forms of cancer, breathing problems, osteoarthritis, and a different kinds of heart disease, which together are the leading cause of death in the world according to the CDC. To prevent obesity, people need to have a balanced lifestyle of healthy foods and at least and hour of physical activity a day. If people do this, it will prevent obesity and decrease the number of deaths caused by heart disease every year. If you don’t just eat and don’t exercise, exercise is recess for most kids, you can’t burn energy and it stays as fat. Then it leads to obesity and health problems. Opponents of recess might say that students need more time to learn the standards, but as Forbes.com asks, “Is it worth sacrificing your health?” Sure, people get smarter with learning, but to risk one’s health and possibly later life just for a few extra minutes of study that might be so overwhelming you’ll forget it anyway? Now think about it, which is more important to you, your health, or your mind being crammed with tons of information? Also, studies show that kids focus less without recess.
