A lot of the time we understand why we make decisions, but are completely dumbfounded why others do the things they do. In reality though, it all comes down to the values of the decision maker. If they value the well being of their employee, they will most likely avoid making cuts and downsizing at all costs. On the contrary, if they value money and profit, the decision maker might be quick to fire someone to save a penny. I think this concept is important when we are making decisions for ourselves. When we are reviewing our thought processes for the choices we want to make and they are not lining up with our values there might be some outside force influencing your decision making. I was just talking to a friend who wanted to just quit everything and move home. As she was explaining herself, she said she wanted to make a big dramatic scene as she left her office after quitting. When I finally got to speak into her situation, I told her that I didn’t believe that any of what she said was coming from her. I explained myself and said 1: you are not a quitter and 2: you are not dramatic. As we talked through it she realized that she had a friend that was feeding all of that into her and affecting her values. I definitely think it easy for us to be swayed one way or the other by those closest to us, so it important when we are making decisions to really focus on our values and if they are lining up with how we want to go about the
