The Words That Form Us
Book have the ability to change the world. They reflect the very nature of humans desire to learn more, feel more and discover more. As the world heads further and further away from appreciating the power of words and the beauty that is encapsulated by poetry and novels, books have become forgotten and undervalued. It's important to remember that there is beauty in the words, if we look hard enough for them, and that these words are the very tools that shape our minds and epitomize our world.
The importance of books and words is a central idea in The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The Book Thief tells a story of a young girl, Liesel Meminger, whose family takes in a Jewish refugee during the Holocaust in Germany. It taught me that there is still something to be found in the terrible times, and in the pieces of those words that sometimes hurt rather than heal, it's all about how you arrange them. In All The Bright Places, Niven creates a world completely of its own. The main character, Theodore Finch, is a charismatic, fearless character who enthralled me in a whirlwind of excitement, adventures and, at times, unexpected moments of raw emotion.
