Chemical weapons are normally known as gases which smother the person or cause massive burning. Chemical weapons were used in World War 1. Troops used a gas called mustard gas and chlorine gas (“Organisation”). The chlorine chemical gas causes irritation in the eyes and lungs. If somebody was to breath this gas in, they can suffocate and die. Mustard gas caused blisters to appear on any area of the body where the gas made contact with. These blisters were very painful for the troops and some of them could barely walk. Others would have to get that part of the body cut off.

One reason, is because they think other countries will not start a war with others just because of the mass destruction weapons. Also, because if a country was to go to war with another country and they run out of these weapons, then they will not have anymore until they make more which could take years. Going to war with a country that has mass destruction weapons will cause more deaths and more money to spend. Society still thinks that these weapons will protect us and they will.
