To start off, Japan wanted to build an empire. They thought they were superior to other countries, and they thought they were a God’ chosen race. The country lacked supplies, so they conquered other countries to steal their resources. Japan took over weak countries, but Franklin D. Roosevelt told them they needed to quit. Then president Roosevelt said, “ Yesterday, December 7th, 1941- a date will live infamy, the united states was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the empire of Japan. The United States was at peace with that nation!” The president declared war on Japan and entered World War II to fight the Axis powers {Germany, Japan, Italy, Hungry, Romania, and Bulgaria}. The president also ordered all Japanese residents into prison camps. Throughout the war, the United States would bomb Tokyo; over 80,000 people would die of these raids. Eventually World War II would end and Harry S. Truman (the next president) would order the atom bomb to be dropped on Japan, ending the war between them, and killing over 100,000 more
