Values/pg. 12: “The standards by which people define what is desirable or undesirable, good or bad, beautiful or ugly.” The border police, unlike the vigilantes, did not think that the immigrants were horrible people. Instead, they treated them kindly and respectfully. The border police’s values told them that treating the immigrants this way was good, and because of this they acted in that manner.
