HIV/AIDS - Increases appetite in patients experiencing severe weight loss, eases neurological symptoms. Neurological disorders (including spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis) - Reduces pain and spasticity resulting from nerve damage. Inflammatory pain - Cannabinoids seem to be more effective than opiates in treating long-term, chronic pain. (Opiates are better for treating short-term acute pain.) Medicinal marijuana is widely used across Canada, and the rates of use are steadily growing. Medicinal marijuana has been researched quite a bit. Though there are adverse effects of this drug, it is a great pain reliever. If there is a worry about long term effects of medicinal marijuana, then what about the long term effects of the use of pharmaceutical pain killers? As a future nurse, safety and quality of life for our elderly is my first priority giving them the variety of choices for the benefit of their well-being is very
