In my opinion, the decision of running the photograph made by Mr Campbell was of professional values. As a media practitioner, Mr Campbell had to be honest to the public. It was his duty to reveal the information and the public’s right to know. Mr Campbell was faced with the choices of respect for the deceased solider privacy rights or the newsworthy of this photo could promote democracy. In the end, Mr Campbell decided that he first had his loyalty to the public and next is loyalty to the American policy makers. The reason why he chose to run the photo was because he had the responsibility to inform the public. Another reason was because the obligations and duties of the press promote the democratic process. This photo clearly showed how bad the situation was and how strong impact the photo could bring when he published it.
Judgement
After applying the Potter Box to this case, I’ve made a decision that if I was Mr Campbell I would publish the photograph as well. So I agree with the decisions Mr Campbell had made. He argued that this was his duty to do so because he clearly knew how heavy weighed the obligations of press were to promote democratic process and how much effects the photograph alone could bring to help in the decisions that need to made in U.S
