Amino acids construct protein and are the building blocks of protein. when protein is consumed the further process of breakdown leads to certain amino acid’s such as (glutamine, lysine, theonine) form together to allow specific functions throughout and within the body and are the key building blocks of many parts of the body. there is said to be around 20-22 amino acid’s 8-10 of them are said to be a requisite or a must have meaning certain amounts must be consumed within your average diet in order for the body to function appropriately. the essential amino acids consist of: isoleucine, threonine, lysine, methionine, …show more content…
there is a stigma in todays world that protein only comes from animal products much research has shown this is not the case it is important to remember that nor one or the other should become the only source within a diet, both forms offer their own benefits within many macronutrient brackets such as (cholesterol amounts, acidity, saturated fat levels, fiber, and caloric amount). it has been seen that animal products are generally higher in saturated fat, caloric amount, acidity levels, and may have traces of much more if moving deeper such as steroids, antibiotics, and constipates. the legume side is seen to have lower saturated fat, lower caloric amounts, lower acidity levels, higher in fibre, will keep bowel movements regular, are higher in antioxidants and helps remove excess hormones from the body. for reference 100g of quinoa will give 6g of fat, 0 cholesterol, 25% RDI for iron and vitamin b6, approximately 50% RDI for magnesium, 563mg of potassium and 14g of protein. 100g of beef will give 12g of fat, 90mg of cholesterol, 14% iron, 20% vitamin b6, 5% magnesium, 318mg potassium. although these statistics provide some background and seem very promising on vegetable over animal consumption, animal protein is said to be more complete, the structure is similar to our own body’s, and animal base protein contain more essential amino acid’s animal protein will contain most if not all essential amino acid’s, whereas plant base products such as beans will not contain as many essential amino acid’s but many non essential
