There many defined punishments for murder that carries a sentence of imprisonment often several years in all states. Depending upon what crime was committed determine what sentence a defendant must face. First degree murder and second murder sentences various because they are not same crime due to the intentions of the killer (England, n.d). Unlike manslaughter generally is less than for any degree of murder even though the penalties vary from state to state. All individuals who are convicted of involuntary manslaughter under certain circumstance may not receive a prison sentence, whereas a person is convicted of voluntary manslaughter would likely face charges. (England, n.d).
