In fact, with the uprising of modern science and horrible events during the middle ages, people began to distrust their religion. This caused a big movement in ideas and beliefs in Italy, resulting in the movement of the Renaissance, and encouraged people to learn more about science and humanism. Though a decline in religion, there were still people who defied these beliefs as they were still caught up in the old ideals of the middle ages. A victim of these people was a man of the name Galileo Galilei. In the book “The Crime of Galileo” by Giorgio de Santilla, the author describes Galileo’s conflict when he published his book “Dialogue concerning the two chief world systems”. In this book, Galileo argues for the copernican theory, the theory in which copernicus states that instead of the earth, the sun is in the middle of the solar system.
