In this poem I use the strategy Internal Rhyme, each verse has 8 syllables and the whole poem has 8 lines. This poem symbolises about how some people just wander aimlessly through life not knowing what will happen next; will they be a saint, or will the lead a life of crime? I've used this formatting to show how formal some people may appear to be, which is the left side of the poem, which uses only one font. The right side represents the crumbling happiness of said person. These fonts were chosen to show the many moods they can go through, with a mind of a day to day basis.…

Poems happen to be words that mean more than they look. May they express a message, describe someone’s point of view of his/her life or anything, poems are able to do so much with so little. Such is how famous poet of the 19th century Robert Browning managed to do with his writings. Through his writings of My Last Duchess and Porphyria’s Lover, we will look upon the way that he believes men would become alongside women. Replaced for stronger than interesting To start it off, let’s discuss about how Browning’s men view their woman as an object.…
Unit 3- Essay Gwendolyn Brooks Gwendolyn Brooks was an extremely famous American Poet. She is particularly famous to be the first black author to win the Pulitzer Prize. (Gwendolyn Brooks.) Her poems usually covered political topics and related to the injustice faced by the black and underprivileged communities. Her work stand out to me because she expresses such profoundly important and critical issues in the simplest of manners that they can be understood by a young child.…
Merely observing the structure of the poem, Bily notes the generic format and simplicity of it. Describing the format of the stanzas and narration as uncomplex and straightforward, Bily’s diction seems to demean the elegance and authority of the poem, pointing…
“Colour Bar” by Oodgeroo Noonuccal is an aboriginal poem from Australia. The author seems to be some sort of activist and poet because of the way she writes this poem. She is showing the resentment that she has for the Christians and anyone who is racist. She has very strong feelings about this, and it is somewhat inspiring. She is very opinionated.…
Introduction Among all the famous contemporary children’s poets, Shel Silverstein is hailed as one of the most popular authors of children’s books in the twentieth century and is dubbed “Poet laureate of kids” by the critic Megan Rosenfeld. His poems are not only embraced by children but by people of all ages; one of the solid proof is that they have been translated into over 30 languages and some of them have been adopted for animations. In some of his reputed poems he depicted the alienation of man from Nature as well as fellow beings. Our relationships have become more centered on money and individual self-interest.…
Poems are a great technique for the depiction of a certain message. According to me, a good poem is well written with the concise and accurate use of language, is extensively engaging and it is relatable. A text which fits this criterion very well is a poem called “Santa Claus” composed by Banjo Patterson. A reason as to why poems are very attractive and popular is the form and technique of language. This makes the poem well written and attractive to read.…
“A Vision of Mud”, a poem by a vorticists named H. Sanders who is one of the editors from Blast magazine. Like many other revolutionary reads, “A Vision of Mud” follows a pattern that I believed are commonly used between vorticists. The poem can be interpreted in many different ways, and the ending is always vague. It almost looks like the authors are leaving blank space for readers to fill in. There are only a few analytical papers written about this particular poem, and most of them think it’s about WWI and are written in a first person point of view as a soldier in the Warfield.…
Literary Analysis: A Double Standard The poem “A Double Standard” by Frances E. W. Harper was published in the year 1895 where inequality between men and women was in occurrence. This poem describes the concerns within this dilemma. Harper disagrees with the particular laws that represented normality within the community. She tends to feel that women are blamed for wanting diverse perspectives of living.…
The writing style in this poem includes long, descriptive lines. Having the long lines with the descriptions helps to let the reader know the way society thinks as well as describes the woman herself. Describing the young woman is important because at the end of the poem she commits suicide. A young woman is being described as being normal, but then society is saying…

I have to say that even though this podcast was less interesting than the podcast we listened to last week this episode still had several insightful ideas. One of the innovative ideas that was said in the podcast that stood out to me the most is the fact that in the podcast it was said that boredom is actually a useful thing because it can put us in a state of mind that leads to creativity. The example that they give is based an experiment where volunteers were asked to think about a memory. It was found out that the more bored volunteers get when they are asked to think about a memory the more that it leads to nolgastic thinking. I wasn’t sure what nolgastic thinking meant, so I searched it up to gain a better understanding of it.…
The poem “Poetry” by Marianne Moore explains what makes poetry, poetry. She uses different poem techniques to display her thoughts of what it is like to read poems. The author regards poetry from the view of someone who does not understand poetry in all its “rawness” (Moore line 37). She states what most people are thinking when they read poetry. Moore uses imagery, diction, and metaphor to emphasize that poetry is necessary for people to have an outlet.…
