The local governments make the decisions about things such as the schools, libraries, parks, and police protection. The state of Florida has three types of local government such as municipalities, counties, and special districts. Since, Florida is divided into a total of 67 counties, people that live in each county elects a board commissioner to make the laws for their county.
Elected officials for each county must plan for land development and roads within the county. In the larger counties, the planning commissioner can make recommendations to the board of commission. Within each county, records are kept for its citizens. The county employees run the courts, prisons, and libraries. The municipal government within each county is set up for governing bodies. In the year of 2015, Florida was ranked the 12th best in the country in “taxpayer burden”. This simply means that the amount of each taxpayer would only need to send their state treasury in order for the state to be debt-free.
