My definition is based on the transtheoretical health model. According to the article “Transtheoretical Model of Health Behavior Change Applied to Voice Therapy”, the transtheoretical health model “postulates that behavior change is accomplished through a series of stages, rather than a single or sudden event. These five stages of change are precontemplation, contemplation, action, preparation, and maintenance...Different experiences and self-regulatory strategies aid the individual in moving from one stage to the next. Self-efficacy influences the entire course of changing.” (Leer, E. V., Hapner, E. R., & Connor, N.
