First and foremost, we should never name call, or label anyone just for having an opinion. For example, the term “Nigger-Lover” is a phrase that can really hurt someone. In the story, the character Francis states, “I guess it ain’t your fault if Uncle Atticus is a nigger-lover besides, but I’m here to tell you it certainly does mortify the rest of the family-” (Lee 83). This family should not care about the beliefs of Atticus. Families support each other with any choices they have. This shows that everyone can be affected by racism, but we should learn to not listen to what others say. Lee states, “Nigger-Lover is just one of those terms that don’t mean anything . . . ignorant, trashy people use it when they think somebody's favoring Negroes over and above themselves.” (108). Just like it’s shown in the novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, when the town goes against a black man just because he is of color. This is very similar to our society today. We should never label others from a different background, nor should we let others be condemned just because they are of color. We need to learn to love and accept everyone. “There’s something in our world that makes men lose their heads - they couldn’t be fair if they tried.” (Lee 220) This shows how corrupt our world is, due to constant racism amongst society.
