This law is designed so that your personal information is protected. It protects your data in which is stored on the pc and hard copies. This act gives the people the right to know what information about them is being stored. It protects information such as your name, address, employment history, credit records etc. this law was designed to ensure people know about how data based upon people can be used. This act must make sure that personal information is accurate and updated if necessary, not kept longer than needed, secure, relevant for purpose and lawfully processed.
This will affect bedrooms4u in a good way because anyone who breaches the act can face fines up to £500 000. Also you could face a prison sentence.

The Data Protection Act states that bedrooms4u aren’t allowed to give their staff and customer details to anyone or trade information. They have to make sure that your information is secure and safe. This can affect bedrooms4u because hacking can mean the loss of data meaning loss of personal details and passwords. Adding to this information may be copied and this means the loss of software and data. And the worst a virus may be on the system and this could potentially take down the whole network.
Ethical issues affect bedrooms4u as these protect the staff that work in Bedrooms4u. These rules make sure that the staff don’t break them as there are various consequences.

An example from the case study that relates legal issues is that Bedrooms4u Finance and Administration Department is responsible for the accounts and all the products that come in and out of the warehouse. This includes customer accounts too, this means they can’t give their customers information
