Aerospace engineers are individuals who use technology to create, model and test mechanisms such as aircraft, and spacecraft. This type of Engineer works to improve the technology of space exploration, defense systems and so on. In the aeronautical field you could be working on a project to send people into outer space or working on projects that could be working with the latest ground and sea transportation. There have also been some disasters over the years. One example was the launch of the space shuttle Challenger in January 1986. This disaster took place 73 seconds after launch. It was found to be an engineering failure due to O-ring concerns. Due to the stress of ignition that resulted in the metal parts of the casing bent away from each other that in return let very hot gases through. This causing the O-ring to move out of its groove and formed a seal. Although, this was a known problem in the past they still launched the shuttle because in the past the O-ring always sealed. But, due to the cold weather in January and extrusion the O-rings harden this caused the O-rings to not seal in time. Furthermore, causing a disaster that took the lives of 7 people.
