Over the course of the few months, our class has been learning the history of Canada. We have now finished chapter three and now we have moved onto chapter four. In this chapter, we are learning about how the Seven Years War had ended, and what the British are doing to make up the costs of the Seven Years War. The British were changing a lot of things which were creating furiousness upon the American colonist. Regarding this, The American Revolution was slowly beginning. In today's money, 82 million pounds will be approximate $35 billion dollars! Since this victory mad thirteen colonies more secure from any attack the British thought that the colonies should help pay for the wars cost. Therefore the British government in London decided to impose special taxes on all its colonies to pay for the wars cost. Through the sugar act, stamp act and many other taxes the British made the colonies pay. This was disliked by the American colonist and slowly the furiousness started upon the colonies.
The colonist began to resist the taxes. In 1770 five people were killed in Boston when the British troops fired on a crowd protesting against the taxes. In 1773, also in Boston, rebels disguised as first nations as threw chests of tea into the sea. This event is known as the Boston tea party. Which brings me to my second reason for the Boston Tea party.by this point, many people in the thirteen colonies were ready to the fight the British.
