To become a Barrister, you must pass exams set by the Kings Inns. You must be called to the Bar after you have passed and then complete a year of apprenticeship for other senior Barristers. There are both Junior and Senior Barristers. Junior Barristers usually spend approximately 12 years as a Junior Barrister before being able to become a Senior Barrister which they must apply for and can only be awarded by Government.
