To me, science is everything. Not only is it the normal biology or psychology, it is everything that surrounds us, or is in us, even the things we ourselves do not know about. The Webster definition is “a system or method reconciling practical ends with scientific laws” which for me that definition encompasses everything we know and learn every day. You can look around and find things that are there; a pencil, a wall, a tree. You can find things that you don’t even see; air, space, feelings. These are all things that are considered under the umbrella term of “science”. For example, I love the idea of physics, but I struggle in understanding and working out problems or figuring out how things work in the field or theoretically. Though I did not understand the topic very well, I chose to get educated. I bought some books on theoretical physics and began reading. Recently, I finished a book about the Higgs Boson. I did not understand it on the first read thorough completely but now I can go back and re-read it and even make my way down the hall to have a discussion about it. I chose Lyman Briggs just because of that, I want to get better and learn, understanding as much as I can and building off of it to enrich my life. I can have intelligent conversations with anyone about anything, I can learn from them here more than I think I would in any other part of this university because they know things I am interested in and also things I have never thought about. I can always go outside of Lyman Briggs and speak to others on topics outside of this “comfort zone” and learn about things that I have not been able to read about, like people’s opinions and their arguments on topics. With Lyman Briggs I can focus on what I love but also go outside and experience new topics and views as well as new opinions on those topics or
