Saying that, some people may believe that case workers are responsible for child abuse because they are responsible for reporting abuse. However, it is not as easy as it may seem. With that being said, child case workers should not be charged with instances of child abuse because different types of abuse have different effects, case worker have limitations, and because child abuse can be learned from others. To properly understand why child case workers should not be held responsible for child abuse, one must understand that there are four different types of abuse. Those four types of abuse are physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect (“Child”). Physical abuse is a common type of abuse often found in children (Primavera). Fifteen percent of children who have experienced maltreatment have experienced physical abuse as well (“Social”). Bruises, fractures, burns, and unexplained injures are only a few signs of physical abuse (“Symptoms”). Failure to seek appropriate medical and dental attention are also results of physical abuse (“Symptom”). Child abuse can occur at any given moment. More specifically, child abuse is reported every ten seconds in the United States (“Child”). Child case workers are simply unavailable to be at every home that has signs of child abuse. However, during reasonable hours, homes can be evaluated more closely. Studies suggest that child-abusing parents were abused themselves as children (“Child). These parents have been reported to have infantile personalities (“Child”). These parents may even hold their children responsible for fulfilling their psychological needs (“Child”). If the child fails to do so, this may result in stress (“Child”). Stress could then lead to violence. The violence is taken out on the child in the form of child abuse. Case workers simply do not have any control over those situations. They must simply do the job that they are assigned to do. In conclusion, child abuse is a situation that should be taken more seriously. It has continued to changes the lives of several children. Child abuse has engraved some children with negative memories that they will never be able to forget. Although child abuse may seem undefeatable, the United States Department of Health and Human Services will always be one phone call away.
