Whistleblowing is encouraged in the workforce and supposedly will be protected more for being honest. Serpico’s article suggest that companies’ should make potential employees be tested with a personality test to avoid those who are short-tempered or have a negative impact. For whistleblowing, If any employee feels that they need to take an unethical situation to the next head or higher rank, the first person who comes to the securities exchange commission that could show credible information that leads to a finding that a company have violated rules of Dodd Frank Law, they get 10% of the fine. However, that employee have to use their internal mechanisms first, showing that they tried to tell someone and failed to be acknowledge. By being a whistleblower, you are benefitting a lot for being an honest person and companies would be more cautious enough to not do any unethical actions. She was the one who actually had gotten me the job and I was so grateful because I needed money. Everything was great, however, when it was close to closing time, I saw her sneakily put some of the products from the store into her backpack. I knew that it was the most unethical action that could be done especially at a place you are working at.I was afraid to “blow the whistle” because of the risk of our friendship being broken since we had known each other for a while. I had confronted her about what I saw and was promised to put everything back and to make the mistake again. However, a few days later, I caught stealing again and as a friend and someone who has principles, I confronted the manager the next day privately, knowing that our friendship would be cut off.
