One event was how Austria and Hungary started a war with Serbia and Austria and Hungary were allies with Germany. Conscription World War 1 was one of the first major global conflicts. The war began on the 28th of July 1914 and ended on the 11th of November 1918. The First World War was a milestone in the history of our world and was a horrific term of events. During the time of World War 1 Billy Hughes, the Prime Minister of Australia called a referendum on conscription, a process where men around Australia would be forced to attend war at random. This was due to the limited numbers of men fighting in war, however, many people had different arguments for the process and conscription began to have many effects on men during and after the war.…
The Power of Film Propaganda in World War II On September 1, 1939, World War II officially began when the Nazi’s invaded Poland causing France and Britain to declare war on Germany. Soon after, many other countries took sides either with the Allied or Axis powers expanding the conflict and causing tensions to escalate further. The Allies mainly included Russia, the United States, Britian, and China. The Axis powers included Nazi Germany, Japan, and Italy whom all shared beliefs regarding strong militarist and nationalist ideologies.…
Throughout the history of Europe there have been many wars. They range from the Hundred Years’ war to the Napoleonic wars. Although both wars were devastating they did not compare to World War 1. By 1914 Europe was divided into two rival camps. One alliance, the Triple Entente, included Great Britain, France and Russia.…
World War I was a very influential time period in history and two sources that explain World War I are history.com (source one) and britannica.com (source two). These two sources explain the causes and what lead up to World War I. Both sources are very accurate, well known, and provide some visual aid to help the reader understand. Source one is more organized with subsections and is clearly stated. As compared to, the information from source two is more difficult to understand because it tends to use complex wording.…

The first propaganda poster evokes fear to convince factory workers to make quality products. The second propaganda poster features a woman striking victorious pose with hands raised high to encourage women to work in factories. The third WWII poster contributes to convince men to join the air defense of Britain by associating the idea of defending home with air defense. The World War II propaganda poster series uses several persuasive techniques to urge viewers to help with war…
Cartoons and World War II The decisions made throughout the 20th century in the United States affected the lives of Americans both positively and negatively. One of the most significant events that occurred during the 20th century was the World Wars, prominently the World War II. The United States, twenty-three years later, was involved, yet again, in another World War. Theodor Seuss Geisel, famously known as Dr. Seuss, was an author and a cartoonist during the 20th century.…
Between 1914 and 1918, hundreds of British factories altered their functions to make munitions. Over 890,000 women – teenagers, wives, mothers, even grandmothers – joined the two million already working in factories. They filled the gaps left by volunteer and later conscripted servicemen, many taking on jobs once believed to be too strenuous for women. They worked long days in physically demanding, repetitive tasks, but also enjoyed contributing to the war effort and the camaraderie of working in a team, perhaps for the first time. Although these women were doing vital war work, not everyone welcomed them.…
The imagery used in the poster includes Uncle Sam pointing at the reader and urging that they volunteer for the United States Army. The message being portrayed in the poster is that recruits are needed for the war effort. I believe this message is effective because the poster calls attention to the reader by having the man on the poster, Uncle Sam, pointing at the onlooker and saying “I want you” instead of “we need more people to join the army.” The major theme of this poster is patriotism because the poster is imploring young men to support United States cause in the war. A basic value that is portrayed in the propaganda poster is doing what's best in the name of your country.…
During WWII Hitler actively tried to control freedom of expression and thought. I think if my Renaissance invention was thought up during that time period without there being thoughts of it before. I think it would have changed the way the war went. I think that if no other armoured car/ tank was invented before WWII, I believe that Hitler would be the ruler of the world at that point in time. Without the tank or armoured car idea before WWII and the idea was thought of in Germany during that time I believe that the inventor would be rich and that we would be speaking German today.…
“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” – Albert Einstein When famous physicist Albert Einstein made the statement in 1949, it was with the assumption that World War III, if it happens, will be on a global scale and may cause massive destruction and likely with the usage of nuclear warfare and hence World War IV will be fought with primitive weapons. While nuclear warfare cannot be ruled out, the way wars or conflicts are fought, have evolved since then. Weapons and technology used today have advanced tremendously since Einstein's time. With countries investing more money into the research for more advancement in the technology of weapons, future weapons will be more advanced than now.…
With the vast amount of history in the entire world, history has to be broken into different categories and be analyzed by different historians. Who are these different historians? Some examples include political historians, economic historians, cultural historians, psychohistory historians, and many more. Personally, I see myself as an intellectual historian because I find interpreting ideas to be very interesting. Norman J. Wilson claimed that it is the idea that “historical changes happen when ideas motivate people to take action.”…
