In regards to this many are calling for a paradigm shift from the protection of human rights to the assertion of human rights. This has caused many support groups to surface. Take the group RESPECT; this is a Europe wide network of migrant domestic workers and their supporters. This agency demonstrates of viewing migrant domestic workers as women with a voice, rather than passive victims. “The RESPECT network is unique in that it is primarily a self- help rather than an advocacy organization.” (Briones, 2013) Unfortunately, these are the only type of agencies and organizations that exist to protect these women because in most cases all of the abuses go unreported. Many countries are still failing to provide protection for migrant domestic workers. Unfortunately, the demand for cheap labor is more important than assisting these workers. We need to ensure that these steps to protect Migrant workers be globally ratified and enforced.
