Body Image When I hear the word body image I began to shrink inside. I have never really been comfortable in my own skin. As a child I was my own worst critic; I hated the color of my skin, my weight, to my hair. As a child my relatives would always say I was dark. So, I hated my skin color. I always wanted to be lighter because it seemed that light-skinned girls my age that were light skinned were able to get whatever they wanted. From the time I was a little girl I told myself I would…
For my creolization project I wanted to do images from back home so I decided to do a couple images that I had took when i was back at home in Hawaii. I will be going 3 images, for each image I will be talking about how I think it reflects an element or theme that Ivor Miller went over in his graffiti article and how it reflects to one of the Creative Spirit goals for class. What I got out of Miller’s article is that creolization is the concept of being able to bring two different aspects…
Today, I decided to play with my own camera of the ESO Canon. I thought that I have learned manual setting on my mentor’s Leica camera. So I wanted to try with my own camera, since it came with manual settings. First, I tried set different ISO, aperture, and shutter-speed numbers. I have to be honest that it wasn’t easy, because I couldn’t tell if is too dark or too bright. I just had to do my best to guess the ISO and shutter speed. With my first try, the first picture was too dark, so I turn…
Can you believe every photo you see? In “The Photo is Lying to You” by Rob Haggart was written about photographers that were taken by a photographer and photo shopped. The saying “one picture is worth a thousand words” Implies that pictures describing many things without reading or hearing about it. In the reading Haggart introduces a photographer name Ed Freeman who was working on a novel about surfing at the time when he took a picture of surfers he saw in Hawaii and photo shopped the picture…
Like many people across the world, I am a visual person. When I flip through the pages of a newspaper or magazine, the very first thing I notice on the pages are the pictures. From there, my eyes wander to the caption, the title of the article, and finally the article itself. While reading the passage, I go back and forth between the text and the picture or pictures that go with it. I try to imagine myself being a part of the whole, standing somewhere in the background where I will most likely…
considered: a wide variety of possessions and effects a person can show, create or capture. So, when it comes to photography, it shouldn 't be questionable if the photos themselves are art or not. They should be, because of the fact that through an image, painting or photo, the artist is able to capture an emotion and allow the viewers to see and feel the emotions they wanted to express. To begin this argument, the fact that most people know more famous pictures are known around the world…
cannot create nor destroy the images people see; mirrors are merely instruments for, what is most often, vanity. However in art, mirrors are used to exhibit much more than just a reflection: as is the case in both Un bar aux Folies Bergère by Éduoard Manet and Picture for Women by Jeff Wall . The mirrors used in both of these works of art mediate the scenes and the characters within them, revealing much more than just a reflection. The mirror takes a seemingly simple image and creates a much…
and I will run it from my home there. Though I will be traveling quite a bit to different locations to get the best pictures for different occasions or if a client has a specific location they would like to take the images at. But at my central location I will use it to edit the images for clients and it will also serve as a meeting place to meet clients. As they may want to discuss pricing and locations for the type of shoot they are wanting. My business is a well-rounded photography business.…
Photographers who photograph landscapes must also often “wait for the right light to capture that perfect moment” (shawacademy.com). If the lighting is too bright and harsh, the image can appear washed out, overexposed, and dull and lifeless in color. If the lighting is softer, as often found during the “golden hour,” most colors have more contrast and appear vibrant and alive. The “golden hour” occurs just after sunset or sunrise, when the colors in the sky appear redder and the sun’s lighting…
Visual research” When we worked on photography history Garry Winogrand was one of the photographers that inspired me with my “Street People” assignment. My work is nothing like his but the free expression that I found in his work even though underneath some of his work you can see the different expressins in people this made me relise that you can express anything within a photo. Simon Garnier said: “I was too timid to get close to strangers to get intimate with them and tell their…
