Moses then goes up to the mountain and talked to God. God came before him and was telling Moses what the people, the Israelites should be aware of because he had delivered them away from the evil ones. During the whole conversations, God is telling Moses to go deliver his messages on what the people should do before the third day and not do when God comes before them. "Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow… you shall set limits for the people… take care not to go up into the mountains." (Exodus 19:10-12) This was written because it is to be shown as a reminder, of how God had helped them escape Israel and not only that, the Israelites have seen the power of their God. So with all that they had seen, if they obey his voice, they 'll receive all the glory that they at the end. Not only that, but this was created to show what had gone down that day when God had come to them. It wasn 't a sweet, sunshine but instead, it was, a cloud of smoke from the fire that God had sent down. It has been passed down from century to century. It marked an important day and document because it was a time where God had come down to his people and finally established ground rules. The ten commandments were written because it was to have an established written rule, that the Israelites must oblige. God came before the Israelites and was like, he had brought them out of Egypt, where they had suffered from slavery. (Exodus 20:1) With that the Israelites are his people and since he brought them out they should understand his power and with that go and lead others, by living with these rules. The purpose for this to be written is to be reminded what the rules are, and on what one should and should not do. Not only was that written down, but it is also stated that the people were afraid of how God made his appearance, with the thunder, lightning and the sound of trumpets and it left them afraid.
