Accordingly, DiLorenzo claims, the Federal government which was being persuaded by Lincoln, was at loggerheads with the States government over the State of the Union. Most of the southern states wanted to secede from the Union and become stand alone countries. However, Lincoln saw this as a threat to the stability of the government and as such, enabled the war to force the southern states to stay in the Union. DiLorenzo further insists, that the cost of the war alone was enough evidence to show an ulterior motive rather than, merely ending slavery. In the foreword, he mentions that the states had the right to secede if they chose to do so by citing several articles in the newspaper. Primary sources are the most prevalent sources use in the entire book because the book largely represented the author’s ideas and thoughts in complete disregard of what other people thought or said. The chronology of the situation, surrounding the life of Lincoln as president and the reasons given might have made him lead the country into the Civil War, are wholly based on the author’s opinions. Furthermore, the author referred to himself as being of strong opinion against the legacy of Abraham Lincoln. The Author is a self-proclaimed truth-teller and seeks to encourage other people to think like him regarding the accolades of
