From 1933 to 1945, the Nazis developed more than 20,000 concentration camps across Europe. Jews and other enemies were discriminated against and thrown in concentration camps and murdered under Hitler 's regime. Jews were forced to live in “ghettos” and were faced with poor working and living conditions. (“Holocaust”). In 1941, Hitler broke his agreement with Joseph Stalin and invaded the Soviet Union. Following the German army were the Einsatzgruppen. These people were a killing squad whose main goal was to murder all Jews in the Soviet Union. They often killed the imprisoned Jews by killing them one by one. By December of 1941 over 500,000 Jews were killed. The Nazi party, however were not fond of this killing method since it was inefficient and slow. In 1942, officials of the Nazi party met to discuss what is now known as the “Final Solution”. This was a name used for the organized, planned murder of all Jews in Europe. Six death camps were established in Poland solely for the extermination place of Jews. Great Britain’s press had full access to the occurrences in Nazi Germany. One America started publicizing the horrific tragedies in the news, the rest of the world could see the evident catastrophe that was taking place. She goes on to prove that she is a real human being with true feelings who reluctantly has to face the tragedies of the Holocaust. Accordingly, the Jews fought back to the Nazi Party only to result in more murders throughout Europe. Subsequently, Hitler came into power because of the decline of the German empire and his promise to reconstruct the country with his Nazi Party. His dictatorship affected those in Germany in a positive way however, negatively affected certain ethnic groups, most prominently, Jews. The Jews responded with small acts of restrictions to the Nazi Party as well as armed resistance. Those responses were ineffective until the end of World War II. World War II began in 1939 when the German army invaded Poland in a blitzkrieg. Lasting for 6 years, this war resulted in the Soviet Union closing in on Berlin. Hitler accepted that the Allied powers led by America, Soviet Union and Great Britain ended his reign. He made plans to kill himself, but prior, he married Eva Braun on April 29th, declared Admiral Karl Dönitz as head of the state and Joseph Goebbels as chancellor.
