In the world 17% of the total electrical energy is generated by nuclear energy, but with the creation of nuclear energy produced many concerns for the surrounding environment. Nuclear waste is produced in different forms with different chemical and physical properties. This waste may be:
• In the form of gas emitted from radioactive materials
• In the form of liquid excreted from many research fields
• In the form of solid ranging from glassware of hospitals and contaminated trash, radiopharmaceutical laboratories, reprocessing of spent fuel or waste from the nuclear power plants.
Nuclear waste known as potential hazard to the human health, international and national guidelines standards radioactive waste with radiation protection …show more content…
These technologies and process are effective for management of radioactive wastes at nuclear power plants further development in this technology is still desirable and possible. Examples of such new developments include a specific inorganic sorbent to enhance liquid waste treatment also use of other technique known as membrane method for liquid waste treatment. Drying of bed resin dewatering and filter slurries, spent ion exchange incineration and super compaction of waste products which are unable to be burnt.
One of the biggest questions is how to face the challenges that are cause by nuclear wastes specially the escalating environmental change and on the other hand growing energy demand. Furthermore every inhabitant on this planet is exposed to radioactivity, while its waste is also accumulating on large scale. National nuclear waste management normally have waste management programmers for technical review of important activities, experience has shown that it is very useful to involve external experts in management of nuclear wastes because due to this blind spots are …show more content…
The principles of radiation protection can be applied at operating waste management system, similarly to other machines which are producing ionizing radiations. The general concern is to stop the diversion of nuclear waste management created in the production of nuclear weapons. For managing nuclear wastes programs are primarily based on safety over the past decade important progress has been achieved in the development of waste characterization, equipment’s and control
