As it was quite evident in history, we had to pay Native Americans a sum of money for taking their land unjustly. Yet, we did not force them into labor. This, however, was not the case for African Americans. We had committed a grave crime when subjugating them into slavery which, after 250 years, had accumulated a total of ‘222 Million unpaid hours’ reported Greg Gordin on Huffington Post in his article ‘What the Modern World Owes to Slavery’. Slaves had the worst jobs to do on a plantation. They had to herd goats, pick up after cow manure, picking cotton, farming the land for food. And if they did not comply, they would be punished by either having their ear cut off or their achilles tendon would be severed. A viable plan for paying these reparations could be to have an educational program. In this, those who have not yet completed college could have the opportunity to go back and have their tuition waived (within the confinements of $5000 allotted to each individual). This program would help to get these recipients a better job due to their new education. Another possible way to pay reparations would be through some national community service. Persons receiving reparations would be paid for community service. This would boost the economy such that unemployed greatly decreases and make the entire country a lot
