1. Effects on gastrointestinal function and ulcers:-
Aloe gel is commercially offered for oral consumption and many claims were made for benefits in various internal inflammatory conditions. Trial done on human patient showed a tonic effect on the intestinal tract with a reduced transit time. Also the bacterial flora appears to show benefit, with a reduction in a presence of yeasts and reduction in pH. Bowel putrefaction was decreased and protein digestion/absorption was improved.
An early trial with human patients found oral administration of aloe gel effective in the treatment of peptic ulcers. The anti-ulcer activities of Aloe Vera has been attributed to several possible mechanisms including its healing effects, anti-inflammatory properties,

Gastroprotective activity was only observed at the least dose tested. It has been suggested that the Aloe Vera extract have cytoprotective activity at the low concentration, therefore protection against mucosal injury by means of a mechanism different from gastric acid inhibition and neutralisation. Several mechanism have been given for the cytoprotection, namely increased mucosal blood flow, increased mucus synthesis and increased phospholipid content of the mucosal coating. But the exact mechanism is not known.
2. Wound healing effects: It is a respond to injured tissue that results in the restoration of tissue integrity. It was shown that Aloe gel could enhance wound healing after topical and systemic administration in several studies. Several mechanisms has been suggested for the wound healing effects of Aloe gel, which inlude increase epithelial cell migration, keeping the wound moist, more rapid maturation of collagen and reduction in inflammation. The epidermis is repaired in three phases: cell migration, proliferation and maturation, while new connective tissue is found in the

It should be noted that macrophages can also secrete substances which can similarly stimulate fibroblast. Whether its effect is direct or indirect, formation of new collagen takes place between the margins of wound when aloe is present. That collagen bond is responsible for increasing the tensile strength. If tensile strength will increase it was assume that collagen production is increased by aloe.
Whenever skin is injured, fibroblast starts migrate into the wound area to proliferate and produce collagen as well as proteoglycans. Proteoglycans helps in formation of ground substances in which collagen fibres are embed. This causes the remodelling of connective tissue. Cells present in the wound area communicate with each other by growth factors. Growth factor in Aloe attract to the wound area and binding takes place with fibroblast IGF receptor for the production of collagen and proteoglycans which causes increase in the tensile

The number of elastic fibres is increased and they are oriented vertically instead of horizontally giving the dermal layer more "spring". • The number and size of fibroblasts, cells that make collagen, are increased. • The presence of numerous chemicals that are involved in the inflammatory process show that a reparative process is going on. • Changes in the blood vessels show an increase in blood flow in the dermis, essentially feeding the reparative process. • An important part of creating this inflammatory response is the mechanical stretching of the skin cause by the negative-pressure component of the…

Using Silver and Carbon in Wound Care Malodor, or odors that come from wounds, can be a challenge for both the patient and the care giver. The malodor can be quite unpleasant and may make the patient feel uncomfortable or embarrassed from it, causing them to isolate themselves and possibly delay much needed treatments. Delay of treatment can either prolong the healing process or make the wound worse. The odor usually comes from anaerobic bacteria that colonizes dead and dying tissues of wounds.…

Wound remodelling occurs when the underlying contractile connective tissue shrinks in size to bring the wound margins closer together. Contraction occurs through the interactions between fibroblasts and the surrounding ECM. These interactions may be influenced by a number of extracellular factors including TGF-β, PDGF and FGF [10]. With time the density of macrophages and fibroblasts is reduced by apoptosis triggered by unknown sources [20]. However, it has been suggested that apoptosis may be signalled by the withdrawal of cytokines as the wound heals, although many other theories exist including myofibroblast differentiation itself signalling apoptosis and the release of certain factors following re-epithelialisation [21].…

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition that occurs mainly in the wrists. But people can get it in other areas of the body too, such as the elbows. It is caused by the nerves getting pinched because of repetitive movements that damage the delicate tendons and bones. Since the wrists are fairly small in size, there isn't enough room for the nerves to move freely enough. So some of them get trapped.…

Scars tell stories of horrible traumatic events, and can negatively affect a person’s psychological health. With advancements in medical technology, medical researchers are able to develop artificial tissues and bioactive wound coverings from cultured cells. These cultured cells have the ability to regenerate new skin cells and securely close off the wounded area. In burn victims the skin cells are damaged, charred and cannot produce new skin cells. The solution to quickly regenerate new skin cells is to use epidermal cultured cells.…

My thoughts were when I started to write the introduction of my book, they were what should I write? What would you, as a reader, like to know about how I came up with the idea to write my book? I was composing a little tale about my childhood (in the south), before I started writing it, and it was exciting recalling memories of it, which I had not thought about in over forty years. The Holy Ghost softly spoke to me within my mind, and told me to stop writing the short story to finish the book that I had started writing about alternative methods (herbal and food based supplements) that have helped me with some of my health problems. The herbal products that I have taken have kept my stomach pain under control for the past 22 years.…
