In the past Ecuador counted with more than 300 ethnics groups, in the presents only 15 of these groups are spreading for all around Ecuador. En the article “Commodity Production and Ethnic Culture: Otavalo Northern Ecuador” Tanya Korovkin displays the life of one ethnic group located in Otavalo (125). Otavalo’s ethnic groups help with economic and cultural changes in Ecuador. These groups still maintain their clothes, food and crafts, they still living in tents in the woods and they still following and hunting animals (125-127).
