The first consistent challenge remains; most parents struggle to afford after school care. The secondary obstacle is the fact many teachers struggle to further their own educations with the current structured school day. For example, as stated by Hess (2007), From 1982 to 2000, the percentage of teachers who had earned a master's degree in their subject area fell from 17 percent to 5 percent. Lastly the third concern is the United States Public Schools mediocre ability to producing well learned and adaptive students. Notwithstanding, these three issues could easily be resolved by extending Public Schools hours of operation. However, revamping Public School hours would come with its own set of challenges.
