In the film it is prevalent that it is shedding light on the law enforcement and government of Texas. It portrays them as a very powerful and influential force, but this is not a good thing in the eyes of the citizens in which they view them from a negative standpoint. In early part of the film there was a powerful scene that took place in a school room that had people discussing the portrayal of Texas history in the textbooks. The Anglos were infuriated on how the history was presented because they felt that was not the “true” story. They felt that this land was taken from them because they were the ones who fought to protect this land. When a Latino parent spoke up and said, “We’re not changing anything, we’re just trying to present a more complete picture” then the Anglo responds with, “And that has got to stop!” (Latino & Anglo parents, Lone Star). This shows how the Anglos view Latinos. As the scene goes on one can see that the Anglos want to feel superior because in textbooks the Anglos are the ones who are always the superior race. The Latinos feel that if they add their point of view to the textbook it will show a more accurate representation of history and the Anglos feel that does seem right. This scene perfectly represents the racial bias. In the state of Texas Latinos face discrimination (despite the fact they are growing to be the majority ethnic population). Even so today many people in Texas feel that the Latinos are taking away their land, jobs, etc., because they feel that they do not belong. Where on the other hand Latinos argue that they have every right because this is their land
