In the video Zirin tells an experiences he witness where politics did take place within sports. He went to Madison Square Garden to watch a basketball game but ended up watching something other than the game. He watched the mascot beat up someone who was Arab which was getting routed on by the Jumbotron. This was a disgusted that they chanted "USA! USA! USA!" while this poor man was getting beat up. Zirin also stated that sports cover politics in ways such as culture, society, beliefs/options, and history.
The video talks about the concept of winning is everything. Zirin mention how men will do whatever it takes to win such as taking steroids, playing hurt, and preforming is unsportsmanlike conduct. …show more content…
I never thought of how the government advertises the military using sports events. Is the reason they do this is because most people who attend sports event are fit and that is who the military is in search for enlisting? Or is it just for publicity of the branches? Sports events shouldn’t be a place where someone should sign up for a branch. I believe that an environment such as a sports event isn’t the right one to be making a drastic life discussion of enlisting because most men’s testosterone kick in at sports events. This doesn’t always give them the best decision
