Very few female spectators were allowed in because it was seen as dangerous for them to be there (Training for the Olympics). It was also seen as scandalous if married women went to the Olympics as spectators, to watch all of the male athletes. Men came from all over Europe, The Greek World as it was called then; places like Spain, Turkey, and France, to be athletes in the Olympics. If an Olympic athlete did well, they became very famous around their hometown (Training for the Ancient Olympics). Now, it is common knowledge that the Olympics are longer than five days; they are now two and a half weeks long. The length of the Olympic schedule kept getting longer, and longer to accommodate all of the new sports that were being added, over the years (History of the Olympic Games). To this day there are still being events added to the schedule of the Games. With there being so many events added to the schedule, they had to make a Winter Olympics for the events that could not be participated in, in the summer. In the year, 1924 the Winter Olympics were added, to be at the same time as the Summer Olympics (History of the Olympic Games). For many years, the Winter and Summer Olympics were held at the same time in different cities. However, as the Olympics got to be more popular, it was turning out to be very hard to have both Olympics in the same year. So, in 1992, the Winter Olympics were switched to be two years after the Summer Olympics (History of the Olympic Games). This proved to be one of the best ideas for the Olympics, because the venues got much better spectator
