Animal-assisted therapy has many benefits for patients. However, it is not being taken seriously because some people believe that the method is not very effective. Well, there is a possibility that someday it will become popular enough to help everybody. Army veterans most likely would need animal-assisted therapy, because they need someone to comfort them after coming back from war. Animal-assisted therapy also gives communities a chance to help patients in hospitals and clinics, because “community-based organizations can also bring in their own pets for patients” (Animal-Assisted Therapies 1). For the most part, animal-assisted therapy is simply the most comforting type of therapy. Dogs, “unlike parents or teachers, pets are never critical and do not give orders” (Robinson, Jeanne 3). Animals are definitely more accepting that humans, doesn’t matter if they are a friend or a psychologist. “Playing with dogs can be a source of calmness and relaxation,” which is unlike anything a psychologist can offer during sessions (Robinson, Jeanne 2). This makes animal-assisted therapy is a reliable practice because it is a feel-good method that helps patients
